@corpsedoll yes.... but i think also, humbert humbert has this warped perception of reality where he has a massive ego, he's a bully, he demands power, & while he's out of touch with reality he is in an environment that enables him, & reinforces his worldview. & throughout the novel (from his POV) his logic all makes sense. & i feel like this is very american, the way his warped perception is upheld & reinforced, & treated as acceptable by society. even his paranoia at invisible policemen is an american attitude, its like McCarthyism or something ...
