TADC theory minor spoilers
i do think this is a pretty poor show, i didnt like the characters , & it was consistently unfunny
that said, its at least good enough to get me to think about it & post theories about it LOL. it was better than i expected.
anyway i think trans jax is a retcon, here is my argumenf
1) gooseworx is totally open to retconning, i think that ep 7 was directly in response to popular fan theories. TADC is at least paying attention to what is being discussed in the community with gooseworx talking about this stuff online & episodes being made 1 at a time.
gooseworx def likes the idea of transfem jax, & if it wasnt her original plan i believe its realistic she would try to incorporate it into the story
2) each of the characters already have a defining insecurity/character trait/character arc
- gangle has no self esteem & needs to find genuine confidence (tommy gun scene)
- ragatha always has to be positive/helpful regardless of the situation
- kinger is insane & cant take responsibility for others/himself
- zooble hates their body
- jax needs to learn to trust people & be genuine & not ironic
- pomni is the main character
zooble is already written as a very obvious trans character, being nonbinary, having very obvious dysmorphia (being given a box of spare parts & disliking all of them) touched on in multiple scenes, & having a faggy accent.
jax on the contrary has a completely different character direction, & the show sets him up to have a character arc about discarding irony & letting himself feel genuine care & trust for others, realizing the impact of his actions blah blah blah
given how 1 dimensional a lot of these characters are, i believe if jax was supposed to be trans gooseworx would have been much more obvious about it from the beginning. instead, trans jax themes seem to kick in towards the second half of the show
i also think if trans jax had been planned from the beginning trans zooble would have been downplayed more to avoid thematic overlap.
no i have not seen the last episode its like an hour i dont care enough.
