"In recognition of their mutual affection, Kim Il Sung awarded Nujoma the Korean Order of Freedom and Independence in 1986. During an ensuing banquet, Kim Il Sung thanked Nujoma for being ‘an intimate friend of our people’ and said that his visit ‘will be important in consolidating the friendship and solidarity between our Party and SWAPO’. Nujoma, in turn, thanked his host for ‘the practical material assistance, political and diplomatic support’ of the Koreans during the liberation struggle. Kim assured Nujoma that ‘our Party and people will firmly stand by you in the future too’."

"NAMIBIA and North Korea want to “re-energise” their ties and strengthen bilateral co-operation on trade, commerce, transport, energy and defence. ... President Hifikepunye Pohamba told the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Yong-Nam, at State House in Windhoek on Thursday night."

President Kim Il-sung and comrade Kim Jong-il actively supported the just struggle of the Namibian people for liberation and freedom, giving both material and spiritual assistance,' the diplomat said."

Book Review - Lost Splendor by Felix Yussupov (1954)
Felix Yussupov's autobiography offers a fascinating window into the lavish life of the Imperial Russian elite at the turn of the twentieth century. Yussupov writes well, covers subjects quickly, and offers a great number of almost unbelievable stories about his life. Most interesting to me were the accounts of his crossdressing in his youth, Rasputin's intense influence over the Tsardom and eventual assassination at the hands of the author, and the Bolshevik Revolution (covered with a notably biased view). An account is also given of the assassination of the Romanov royal family. A very well written and descriptive autobiography by an important figure in Imperial Russia, during the final days of their empire.
