@corpsedoll yes.... but i think also, humbert humbert has this warped perception of reality where he has a massive ego, he's a bully, he demands power, & while he's out of touch with reality he is in an environment that enables him, & reinforces his worldview. & throughout the novel (from his POV) his logic all makes sense. & i feel like this is very american, the way his warped perception is upheld & reinforced, & treated as acceptable by society. even his paranoia at invisible policemen is an american attitude, its like McCarthyism or something ...
@detondev i dont really know... apparently lolita is a much bigger cultural thing than i realized & my friend was shocked i never knew any of the plot points or never saw a film adaption but idk. pale fire i feel like even less people talk about unless you're a homosexual
@detondev no.... i didn't really see any connection between the two books. lolita is not necessary. i did find lolita much better than pale fire though, i didnt really like pale fire that much
